1″ C x C x FTG Tee: Is It Sold Anywhere?
Question
Does anyone sell a 1-inch copper tee that is C x C x FTG?
I can find “street tees” only up to three-quarter inch.
A 1-inch size would simplify my layout and save joints.
Answer
Most suppliers do not stock a 1-inch C x C x FTG tee. The common size range for street tees is 1/2 inch and 3/4 inch. When you need 1 inch, use a standard 1-inch C x C x C tee and solder a short tube stub to create your own spigot (FTG) outlet. This field method is reliable and keeps the full 1-inch flow path.
Practical workarounds that pros use
- **Make your own FTG:** Sweat a 1-inch tube stub into a 1″ C x C x C tee.
- **Use a closed nipple and unions** when you must break the line later.
- **Consider press systems:** A 1″ press tee plus a press-to-cup adapter can mimic FTG.
- **Plan for service:** Add a drain, stop, or union where removal is likely.
Why the 1-inch street tee is rare
Low demand keeps the part out of many catalogs.
Inventory cost rises with niche sizes and patterns.
Field stubs solve the need with common stock on hand.
