Now the plumber plans to repair both systems.<\/p>\n

The HOA told residents not to flush toilets.<\/p>\n

They said flushing could burst the sewer pipes.<\/p>\n

That sounds confusing to many homeowners.<\/p>\n

A toilet flush does not usually create high pressure.<\/p>\n

Sewer pipes are normally gravity drain pipes.<\/p>\n

They are not pressurized like water supply pipes.<\/p>\n

So, one flush should not \u201cburst\u201d a good PVC sewer pipe.<\/p>\n

But there is still a real concern.<\/p>\n

If the sewer line is open, broken, or uncapped, waste can escape.<\/p>\n

No, a normal toilet flush should not build enough pressure to burst a PVC sewer pipe. But flushing should be stopped if the sewer line is broken, open, uncapped, or being glued.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Why the Plumber May Say Wait Three Hours<\/h2>\n

PVC cement can feel hard and fast.<\/p>\n

That does not mean it has fully cured.<\/p>\n

The set time and cure time are different.<\/p>\n
