\nStuck stems usually mean the inserts are misaligned, overtightened, or the springs and seats are not seated correctly. Each stem must be reinstalled carefully so that the flat side aligns with the slot inside the faucet body. If either the seat or spring is crooked, the stem cannot move. Mineral buildup in a 25-year-old faucet can also cause the stems to jam.
